This program will quickly house persons experiencing homelessness as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In areas determined to have a significant number of these persons, MaineHousing will contract with a current subrecipient of MaineHousing funds to deliver the program as described below. Contracts will include funding for staffing costs specifically designated to this program, landlord financial incentives, and financial assistance to guests to pay for move-in expenses and rent.
Rapid ReHousing is an evidence-based intervention designed to help individuals and families to quickly exit homelessness, return to housing in the community, and not become homeless again in the near term. Rapid ReHousing is a Housing First intervention which means that the primary focus is moving households into housing quickly without preconditions, with an emphasis on assessing the household’s current housing crisis and providing assistance to remove the household’s barriers to obtaining and maintaining housing.
Funding Source: State
Eligibility will be based on good standing as current subrecipient of MaineHousing funds and the capacity to quickly implement the program with staff trained on Housing First, Rapid ReHousing (RRH) and landlord engagement strategies. Subcontractors may be employed to do the work provided the program standards can be met.
